Workforce Development Orientation

If you are ready to return to work and would like information about how we may be able to assist you, the Orientation will provide an overview of the services available through Workforce Development and the steps you will have to take to seek these services.

WorkKeys Assessment

WorkKeys is a nationally recognized assessment developed by American College Testing to measure the “real world” skills critical to job success. Some employers in the central valley use the assessment results to make hiring decisions. Jobseekers can use their WorkKeys scores to qualify for these jobs or to make training decisions.Picture identification is required. There is no food, drinks, cell phones or other electronic devices allowed during the assessment.

WorkKeys Curriculum Registration

If you want or need to raise your WorkKeys levels, WorkKeys Curriculum can help. WorkKeys Curriculum is not a test. It is a user-friendly, online set of lessons that target the WorkKeys subjects. 80% of jobseekers who use WorkKeys Curriculum raise their WorkKeys levels. At WorkKeys Curriculum you will see a demonstration of the software and receive your login and study materials.

Managing Your Job Search, Using CalJOBS

Learn about the CalJOBS’ Background Wizard and how it effects your CalJOBS job search. You will also create a resume in CalJOBS and discover how to use the Virtual Recruiter Tools. To attend you must do the following: (1) attend CalJOBS 101, (2) complete the Background Wizard in CalJOBS

Understanding Employer Expectations

Hiring and training new employees is expensive and time consuming. Employers need employees that will work with them to build profitable businesses. Come to this workshop and discover the six most important concerns and needs of employers. Identify and overcome any barriers that could sidetrack your job search or short-circuit your career.

The KEY to an Effective Resume

When job searching, a resume is your personal advertisement and your key to obtaining an interview. Learn what employers want to see on your resume. This workshop focuses on how to articulate your skills and successes and how to identify keywords in the job descriptions to catch the attention of employers. You will receive copies of sample resumes.

Interviewing with Confidence

This workshop explores detailed information about successful interview strategies to help you better understand what the employer is looking for, and how to make the best impression possible during your next interview.
